I decided to risk a four segment swirl pattern, drawn freehand and coloured in Photoshop:

Infatuation 14-2-13

I wanted to depict the thought spiral that infatuation creates. While true love completes and causes everything to fall into place, infatuation is a parody of love; it confuses and consumes the brain, and oscillates without warning between euphoria and sadness. Oddly enough, the intensity of creating this image led to a similar mania but one that was altogether more constructive; I’m coming to love doing these swirl patterns – I think they could be this year’s equivalent of last year’s fractal experiments.

On a chirpier note, if you’ve not seen and played with it already, today’s Google animation is utterly wonderful – quirky, funny, and in parts heartwarming. Go check it out.
