Today’s drawing of a calligraphic letter E was inspired by an image I found in a book of religious iconography from the 15th-17th centuries, and is a tweak of the calligraphy used in Vostre’s primers dating from the early 16th century.

I’ve recently developed an interest in calligraphy and illuminated lettering; I think the intricacies of the form are fascinating. As such I’m aware that my venture into the form today is comparatively simplistic, and aim to create more detailed and ambitious examples in future.
